THE DUAL IMMERSION ACADEMY OF SALINAS (DIAS)

​A public magnet school, DIAS is the fourth school in Salinas City Elementary School District (SCESD) to offer a Spanish dual immersion language program. It is the first school to offer only dual immersion Spanish classes. ​DIAS  was the first school in  the district to offer a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) curriculum. OUR SCHOOL

DIAS is the first school to offer a dual immersion-only curriculum within SCESD. We are dedicated to high academic achievement and creating a bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural community. ​ We offer Smart Start preschool, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten through grade 6.

OUR PROGRAM

DIAS integrates both native English and Spanish speakers for a successful academic environment. All students learn to read, write and speak fluently in English and Spanish. DIAS provides the 90:10 model in the first two grades and incrementally increases the amount of English to a 50:50 model in the upper grades.
